When attending a wedding, it is a great first step to check the dress code. Three categories can help you pick the perfect outfit for your loved one’s special day. Here is a breakdown of the most common categories:

1. Black-Tie: With this theme, think tuxedos and long formal gowns. I would go for an elegant or classic look for this event.
2. Semi-Formal/Cocktail: A knee-length dress is a great option for this wedding. This dress code is similar to black-tie but more relaxed. I would aim for a stylish but polished look, paired with a bold lip and open-toe heels.
3. Casual/Beach: For this attire it is acceptable to wear sandals, wedges, and sundresses. Relaxed and comfortable styles are most appropriate at this wedding, especially if the event takes place at the beach. A casual wedding is the perfect opportunity to incorporate a straw crochet shoulder bag into your look.

Avoid the Color White

Unless otherwise stated on the wedding invitation, it is generally polite to avoid wearing the color white to the wedding, as it is typically reserved for the bride.
